NEWARK: A gathering of family and friends celebrating the life of Dale Hutson Howell, age 66, of Newark, will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, November 28, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark with Pastor Paul Hanson officiating prayers at 5:30 p.m.

Dale passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born November 2, 1950 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Hutson K. and Edna F. (Thompson) Howell.

Dale had worked with Rite Rug in Heath for twenty-five years before retiring as store manager. Family was the most important thing to Dale. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid coin collector and enjoyed playing board games, especially Cribbage. Dale was an intelligent man who enjoyed playing table tennis and had a dry sense of humor as well as the love of puns. He grew up in Needham, Massachusetts, graduated from Needham High School, class of 1968 and then attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Sharon A. (Powers) Howell; son, James (Jereelyn) Fullenkamp; daughter, Carrie Curry; brother, Bruce (Susan) Howell, two sisters, Carol H. Michael and Laura (Gordon) Griffith; brothers-in-law, George F. (Carol Ann) Powers and Terry (Marlene) Powers; sister-in-law, Rebecca Bliefnick; uncle, David (Julie) Howell; six grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Boston Terrier, "Zell".

Family and friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, November 28, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dale's name to the Newark Table Tennis Club, 1075 South 30th Street, Heath, Ohio 43056.

A memorial service will be held in memory of Dale in the Spring of 2017 at Three Church Farm, 7611 Ballou Road, Newark, Ohio 43056.
