Mark Roland Baker

Baker, Mark Roland, 68, of South Yarmouth and formerly Needham, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2018 after a brief battle with leukemia at Tufts Medical Center. 

Mark leaves behind his daughter Nicole Baker, step son Justin and his wife Kay Burke of Idaho, their mother Linda Burke, along with his grandchildren Derek, Christopher, Desmond, Gabriella, and Brennan. Mark is also survived by his sister Deborah Palmer and husband Dennis of Snellville, GA; brother Raymond R. Baker and wife Patricia of Holliston, MA. Mark is also survived by four nieces, three nephews, four great nieces and eight great nephews. Mark was predeceased by his parents, Raymond F. Baker and Louise K. Baker of Osterville; sisters, Diane Baker of Hyannis and Susan Baker of Singer Island, FL; as well as brother, Bruce R. Baker of Osterville. 

Mark was a graduate of Needham High School in 1968 and received his bachelor degree from UMass Boston. Mark had a very successful painting business on Cape Cod. He was an avid reader with a thirst for knowledge. He loved nature, hiking, traveling the US and abroad, and most importantly being with his grandsons as often as possible. Mark was passionate about football and held the Patriots in high esteem. There was not a family gathering to be had without Mark and his football, ready to challenge his nephews! 

Mark was a true giver who lit up a room with his amazing personality. He will be remembered for his quick wit, positive attitude and love for his family. As we say goodbye with the heaviest of hearts, we take comfort in knowing one day we will see him again in heaven. 

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday April 11, 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury, MA. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be private.
