Mark L. Dooley of Pocasset, formerly of Needham, a self-employed woodcarver, died Thursday at his home after a sudden illness. He was 43. Born in Boston, Mr. Dooley was a 1967 graduate of Needham High School and a 1971 graduate of the University of Kentucky.
He worked at the Raytheon Co. in Waltham for several years as an assembler and was involved with the development of the Patriot missile used in the Gulf War. He retired from Raytheon in 1989 and pursued his hobby of woodcarving as a business.
Mr. Dooley is survived by his mother and stepfather, Shirley (Townsend) and F. Marshall Bean of Pocasset; one sister, Gay Wells of Boca Raton, Fla.; and two nephews.
A funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, Bourne.
Burial will be in Pocasset Cemetery
