Mr. Heinrich taught German with a minor in opera and Wagner. He took us to a performance of the Met Opera in a matinee of La Boheme at the old Back Bay Theater.
I have been an Opera and German fan ever since. So many thanks for introducing me to a beautiful world of music and theater.

I'm going to echo Charles' comments. Herr Heinrich was a very funny, warm teacher who used his stories and jokes to keep us focused and entertained. I didn't realize how much German I'd actually absorbed until I traveled through Austria, Switzerland and Germany and managed to get through the dialects. He was one of my many language teachers who inspired me to get a doctorate in Germanic languages, write on three dictionaries and (unknowingly) follow in his footsteps as a Fulbrighter. Quite an impact in my life, and I'm sure many others.
