James P. Maloney

James P. Maloney was born to Thomas J. & Doris E. Maloney in Arlington, MA on May 1, 1924.
He passed away peacefully at the Central Utah Veteran's Home in Payson, UT on May 8, 2017.
James resided in Brookline, Templeton and Needham, MA and graduated from Needham High School in 1942. He was enlisted in the United States Army 1942-1946 serving in Panama and Central America and was a Tactical Officer at the Infantry School at Fort Benning, GA.
James married Norma Jean DeLoach December 27, 1946 who passed July 6, 1977.
He graduated in 1949 from B.U. with a degree in Health and Physical Education and then was employed as a teacher/coach in the MA School Union #1 from 1949-1951. James was recalled to active duty in Korea from 1951-1953. He received a Master's of Education degree from B.U. in 1953 and then taught physical education and coached at Needham High School 1953-1969. James was employed in Needham schools as Director of Physical Education and Athletics 1969-1985.
He married Anna Victoria Heinlein Harris January 8, 1979.
James retired in 1985 and moved to Utah in 1996. Jim was a lifelong sports enthusiast and in his later years, he became an avid golfer.
James was predeceased by a sister Doris and brother Thomas J. Maloney Jr.
He is survived by his wife Anna of Taylorsville, Utah. Sons; James Jr & Ann of Wrentham, MA, Richard and Carolyn of Plainfield, Il and William and Regina of Shelton, CT. Grandchildren; Kate, Sarah, Michael, Andrew, William Jr & T. Parker. Step children; William & Desiree Harris, Susanna & Andy Garland, Kate & Ryan Hanks. Step grandchildren; Samantha, Shannon, Victoria, Tad, Mackenzie, Kelley, Albert, Grace, Mary & Isabella.
James was a proud and active member of many clubs and organizations including: MA State's Baseball, Hockey and Football Coaches Association, MA State & National Athletic Association, Bay State Conference Athletic Director's Association, MA & National Association of Health. PE & Recreation Needham, MA Exchange Club, MA Baseball Officials Association, Needham Athletic Boosters Club, Needham American Legion Post 14 and Taylorsville (Utah) Exchange club.
