ROBERT MEROWITZ Obituary

MEROWITZ, Robert "Bob" Merowitz of Wellesley, MA, Ogunquit, Maine and Naples, FL formerly of Sudbury, MA, Robert "Bob" passed away on March 13, 2024 at the age of 73. He was born in Waltham on November 4, 1950. He was the son of Arthur and Elinore (Levine) Merowitz. He graduated from Needham High School in 1968 and Husson University in 1972. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Myrna who he was married to for 46 years. He was the loving, supportive and proud father to his children, Marc and Lisa. Bob was a prominent real estate entrepreneur who excelled in his field and was a respected leader. After beginning his career with the Flatley Company, he founded Univeral Realty Corporation. His major focus was condo conversions and affordable residential apartments. Bob was a sports enthusiast who owned Concourse Ticket Agency. Live theater was a passion of his. He owned the Wilbur Theatre in Boston for many years and produced a Broadway show, "Jackie: An American Life". Because of his love and involvement in the theatre, he had the privilege of being a Tony voter. A liver transplant recipient, Bob served on the board of directors for New England American Liver Foundation and was appointed to the ALF's national board. Showing immense appreciation of this gift of life that he was so fortunate to receive in 2000, he also went on to serve on the board of governor's at Tufts Medical Center. Bob was a kind and generous man who touched the lives of so many people. He lived life to the fullest with a big heart. He was always there to help others. A Funeral Service will be held at Congregation Or Atid on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 1:30 PM, (97 Concord Rd, Wayland, MA), with Interment to follow at Beit Olam East cemetery, in Wayland, MA. A Memorial Observance will follow at Congregation Or Atid, until 5:00 PM and on Monday, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at the Beal Interfaith Chapel, at Newbridge on the Charles, 5000 Great Meadow Road, in Dedham. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory can be made to the PSC Research Fund, c/o Dr. Daniel Pratt, MGH Development Office, 125 Nashua St., Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114, Tufts Medical Center, 800 Washington St., Box 231, Boston, MA 02111 or Newbridge on the Charles, Hebrew Senior Life, in Dedham, MA.
